It hasn’t been a great outing for India as they suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Australia in the first ODI of the three-match series at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday, October 19. Now, the Men
in Blue are on the verge of losing the series and need to win the second ODI to keep themselves alive in the series. The second ODI will be played at Adelaide Oval on October 23. The Shubman Gill and his men will be looking to level the series in Adelaide and take it to the decider in Hobart.
After a disappointing performance in the first ODI, India are also likely to make a few changes for the second ODI to make a comeback in the series. In the following listicle, we will have a look at India’s probable playing XI for the second ODI against Australia in Adelaide.
Openers: Shubman Gill (c), Rohit Sharma
India will not look to make any change in their opening pair and skipper Shubman Gill will continue to open the innings with former captain Rohit Sharma. Notably, both Rohit and Gill failed to give India a good start in the first ODI but will be looking to turn things around in Adelaide.
Middle-Order: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul
In the middle-order India is having a star studded batting line up including Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. Kohli is likely to continue to bat at number three while Iyer can be seen taking charge at number four. Rahul will also look to play an impactful knock while coming to bat at number five.
All-Rounders: Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy
Talking about the all-rounders, India are unlikely to make any change and will continue to go with players like Axar Patel, Washing Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Axar played a handy knock of 31 runs in the first ODI while Reddy gave finishing touches with 19*(11). Now, they will be looking to deliver an all-round show in Adelaide and help India to level the series.
Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh
India are likely to make one change in their lineup and might bring Kuldeep Yadav in the playing in place of fast bowler Harshit Rana. India will be looking to play an extra spinner looking at the conditions at Adelaide Oval and Kuldeep could be an spearhead spinner along with Washington Sundar and Axar Patel.
