Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian cricket team are the only team to have qualified for the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. After returning victorious by nine wickets over UAE in their opener,
followed by registering a dominating performance over Pakistan on Sunday, September 14, India will next take on Oman in their final group stage on Friday, September 19.
But ahead of the game, the Indian team canecelled their practice session as well as their press address. This move comes after Pakistan cancelled their pre-match presser on Tuesday, September 16. The Men in Green’s move reportedly came to avoid any controversial remarks over the request of removal of match referee Andy Pycroft.
Team India cancels practice session and press conference ahead of Oman game
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t provided an official statement on the same, but it is reported that they were scheduled to hold three-hour oractice session on September 17 with a team member available for media interaction too. "Please note there will be no media and practice session tomorrow. It is a rest day. Will convey practice and PC time for pre-match PC for Thursday later," a BCCI official communicated in the official WhatsApp group, as stated by media houses.
As per a prior communication, the Indian board had informed that the published was subject to change without any prior notice. However, the Men in Blue might have taken a sudden step, but they conducted a practice session on Tuesday with all the members on the field.
Speaking of the tournament so far, India have earned a qualification into the Super Fours followed by two successive wins in their Group A fixtures. Pakistan, are placed second in the standings with one win and one defeat, followed by UAE. The match between Pakistan and UAE, which is scheduled to be played on September 17, will decide the second team from the group.
