English skipper Harry Brook has revealed the reason for not playing franchise cricket. Brook was speaking at the post-game ceremony after the Three Lions registered an eight wicket win over Sri Lanka in the three-game
T20I series to complete a series sweep. England skipper Brook was named Player of the Series for scoring 170 runs, and while speaking in the post-match ceremony, he opened up on multiple aspects including why he doesn’t play franchise cricket. Brook revealed that he has his priorities sorted- he wants to play as much as he can for his country.
On being asked about his workload with both England coaches and the demands of Test and white ball cricket, he said, “I’ve said plenty of times I want to play as much cricket as I can for England. That’s my main priority, hence why I don’t play any franchise cricket, bar the Hundred. So yeah, that’s my main focus: trying to stay as fit and as ready as I possibly can for England.”
Notably, Brook has made some serious statements ever since taking over as England captain in the shortest format. Thus far, the team has registered 23 wins in 26 games and have only three defeats.

Harry Brook and Jos Buttler Push England to No. 1 Spot in Rankings
England crushed their South Asian counterparts in the three-game series to complete a sweep and return to the top spot in the world rankings. In the third game, England’s pace bowlers displayed remarkable prowess to dismiss the rivals for 124, and then went on to complete the chase in just 9.4 overs. Jamie Overton conceded only 15 runs while Sony Baker finished with the figures of 2-17. Jofra Archer had figures of 2-23.
In the later innings, opener Aneurin Donald had to return at 13 but Jos Buttler and Harry Brook strolled the pursuit and built a second-wicket stand of 85 runs. Brook scored 33 runs while Buttler wrapped up the game with an unbeaten 61. The Englishmen chased down the total with 62 balls to spare, to reclaim the top spot in the rankings.
