A unique and spiritually charged atmosphere was the dominant discourse during each of the five days of The Oval Test match in the Indian dressing room while playing against England earlier this month.
It is now been revealed that the members of the Indian cricket team were resorting to something more than just their pack of skills and efforts on the ground, their home away from home!
So what was it? And most importantly, what did the the Indian cricket team embrace where it came to emerging right on top as seen, recently, in the beating ground of England at The Oval in London? Well, for starters, there's really no surprise about the fact that in India - two things function as religion; there's cricket for sure and hardly a doubt about that? But there's also religion or as one could say, spiritual stance or spiritual devotion. Now, if the latter is any true, which frankly, isn't that hard to fathom - what's also true is that it is something that has a magnetic effect or, if it could be said, magnetic pull.
Batting immense pressure?
This was done, rather interestingly - and do not undermine - on each and every day of The Oval Test match. And earlier, at the same time, Indian Test team members were also chanting and listening to the ever-revered and soulful Hanuman Chalisa! Also, this was done to uplift the mood of the members of Indian team, who may certainly have been feeling immense pressure. England could certainly have chased down the runs and it did seem as though that the hosts would get there, eventually.
But, listening to the spiritual powers as only powerful rhythms like the Shri Shiva Rudrashtakam Stuti along with the Hanuman Chalisa did was that it extended enougn faith and inner power to the Indian cricket team, who went onto defeat England by six runs in The Oval Test and level the series 2-2.
In the end, we know what happened. We all could sense the emphathic meaning that this particular victory fetched the entire pantheon of Indian cricket in the end, not just those who would have been either 'keeping their fingers crossed' or praying much like our fighters on the 22 yards did.
