T20I. Rohit Sharma smashed 12 fours and 10 sixes on his way to the joint-fastest T20I century of all time.
In white-ball cricket, Rohit Sharma was already one of the best in this generation. But against Sri Lanka at the Holkar Stadium on that December night, he took it up another notch as he blitzed his way to a 35-ball century before finishing on 118 off 43 balls.
It was a breathtaking knock. Rohit and Rahul shared a 165-run stand for the first wicket which is the highest opening partnership for India in the shortest format of the game. Rahul himself was looking great for his second hundred in T20Is but was unfortunately dismissed for 89 off 49 balls. He smashed 8 sixes and 5 boundaries during his knock.
Sri Lanka used seven bowlers but nothing prevented them from Rohit’s onslaught with the bat. He was dismissed for 118 runs off only 43 runs. He hit 12 fours and 10 sixes to reach his 118 at an astonishing batting strike-rate of 274.42.
India posted 260/5 in their 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka could muster on 172 before getting bundled out in the 18th over and lost the match by 88 runs. This is one of the most memorable knock in Rohit’s career.
