Two veterans of the game, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli finally returned to international cricket after close to seven months hiatus in the three-match ODI series against Australia. While the return of the senior
duo was highly-anticipated, they finally made a mark on the field in the third and final ODI, played at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
While Rohit Sharma did play a gritty knock in the second ODI in Adelaide and followed with an unbeaten century in Sydney, Virat Kohli finally returned to form after registering two consecutive ducks. The duo stitched an unbeaten stand of 168 runs to guide India to nine-wicket win in Sydney, fans speculated it to be their last tour on the Australian soil. While the setup somehow echoed the stance, but the duo continued to remain tight-lipped as usual.
Don't know if we're going to come back….: Rohit Sharma’s statement goes viral
After guiding his team to the consolation victory in Sydney, Rohit Sharma in a chat with former cricketers Ravi Shastri and Adam Gilchrist along with Virat Kohli by his side was asked on playing in Australia. “I have always loved coming here, and enjoyed playing cricket at this venue (in Sydney),” he remarked. “Brought back nice memories of 2008 (his first tour of Australia), it was fun, don't know if we're going to come back (as cricketers), but I've enjoyed every bit,” he further said, hinting at possibly his last appearance in Australia.
At the end, the 38-year-old stated, “We've enjoyed playing cricket regardless of all the accolades over the years. Forget about what happened in the last 15 years, I've always loved playing here, I think it'll be the same for Virat as well”, thus thanking the Aussie crowd for their support over the years.
