BCCI source confirms Ayush Mhatre undergoing surgery
A BCCI source confirmed that Mhatre underwent surgery on Thursday, and said, “Ayush Mhatre underwent right hamstring surgery yesterday (on Thursday) at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, performed by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala.”
“He is currently recovering well and is expected to take approximately 2-3 months to make a full recovery and return to competitive cricket. The surgery was successful and as of Friday morning, Ayush even started walking slowly with crutches,” the source added.
Notably, Mhatre spent a total of three months at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, undergoing rehabilitation after he suffered the left hamstring injury during the IPL season. Now that he is injured, Mumbai is forced to look for a new opening pair.
As for the 18-year-old, he had opened with Yashasvi Jaiswal against Chandigarh. On the other hand, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Divyaansh Saxena opened the innings in Mumbai’s away clash against Himachal Pradesh.
