Legendary batter Virat Kohli recorded his 86th international and 55th record-extending hundred in ODIs during the first ODI against West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on Sunday. The Indian batting
stalwart reached the milestone in 74 deliveries as the hosts chased the 296-run target against the Shai Hope-led side. Batting first, the guests got off to a solid start following an early dominance from the openers.
While John Campell hit a 60-ball 62, Greaves went on to register a hundred, and posted 101 runs in 108 balls. Though the Indian bowlers made a remarkable comeback, went on to pick wickets in succession, they couldn’t restrict the batting side below the 250-run mark. However, in return, the likes of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill kicked off the innings in a favorable manner, to give the counterparts a befitting reply.

Virat Kohli Registers 86th International Hundred
After Sharma’s dismissal on 32 runs, Kohli extended the side’s momentum and went on to hit a 40-ball 50 before converting it to a hundred. Earlier during his knock, the star batter also joined Sachin Tendulkar in the elite 15,000 ODI run club.

Kohli reached the three-figure mark in 73 balls, with a combination of six boundaries and six maximums. He reached the milestone with a six off a Gudakesh Motie delivery in the 38th over. The 37-year-old removed his helmet and raised his helmet to acknowledged the Thiruvananthapuram crowd which rose to feet to laud the batting icon.
