Indian cricketer parting ways with the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2026 season, the star cricketer has himself taken to the internet to put an end to the ongoing rumours.
Earlier on August 8, reports citing Cricbuzz stated that top CSK officials and players, including the likes of MS Dhoni, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad have held meetings over the past couple of days. With the trade window currently open, the Yellow Army has plans to release all-rounder R Ashwin, who was roped in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 9.75 Crore, making his return after staying away for nine-long years.

Amidst the ongoing rumours, India’s spin great has served a hilarious twist, turning the speculation down. In the teaser of Ashwin’s Kutti Stories episode, the 38-year-old was seen in conversation with RR skipper Sanju Samson, whose future at the franchise also hangs in balance. Reacting to the ongoing chatter, Ashwin did not miss the opportunity as he took a dig at it all, leaving Samson too in laughter.
“I have a lot of questions to ask. But before that, I thought I’ll come directly and trade myself. I am happy to stay back in Kerala. There are a lot of rumours going on. Neither do I known of anything. So, I thought I’ll reach out to you and ask you. If I can stay back in Kerala and you can travel back to Chennai,” Ashwin said, leaving the Rajasthan Royals skipper in gigs.
The conversation has gone viral since then with uncertainty on both the cricketer’s future at their respective franchises in the IPL. However, neither sides have confirmed a move, but speculations are rife with the trade window currently open and the auction likely to be held in December 2025.
