On November 10, 2019, Indian pacer Deepak Chahar became the first bowler to claim a T20I hat-trick with his rare feat during India’s 30-run win against Bangladesh in Nagpur. While the Indian speedster
etched his name in the record books, his brilliant spell of 6/7 also guided India to 2-1 series win against their near neighbours.
While the Bangladesh side would have looked to chase the competitive total, Deepak Chahar was on the field with different plans. He removed Liton Das for nine and then dismissed Soumya Sarkar on the very next ball, leaving the visitors at 12/2. When the Bangladesh side looked to take control of the game, Rohit Sharma reintroduced Deepak Chahar. The move paid the price instantly as he dismissed Mohammad Mithun.
Thereafter, Chahar ran riot, taking a hat-trick to better Ajantha Mendis’ six for eight by conceding one fewer run. The medium pacer removed Shafiul Islam in the last ball of the 18th over and then returned to give marching orders to Mustafizur Rahman and Aminul Islam in the first two balls of the 20th over to complete the hat-trick and register the best figures in men’s T20I.
