KL Rahul responds with match-winning form after early struggles as Delhi Capitals gain momentum
In the 2026 edition of the IPL, KL Rahul had got his opening slot with the Delhi Capitals along with Pathum Nissanka. All the fans were in high anticipation to see the batting of KL Rahul in T20 cricket as he last played the format in the 2025 IPL. However, Rahul disappointed the fans with a golden duck in his opening game against the Lucknow Super Giants. In the next match, he suffered a similar fate as he nicked a ball going down the leg side and got dismissed for 1. The batter knew that something wasn’t going right and he seemed determined to make an impact in the next match.
In the next match against the Gujarat Titans, the Delhi Capitals had a massive target of 211 to chase in the 2nd innings. Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul gave the side exactly the start they wanted with a 74-run partnership. Then the wickets kept on falling at one end, but Rahul stood his ground well. He scored a stunning 92 off 52 balls, including 11 fours and 4 sixes. He couldn’t finish the game as he was dismissed in the 17th over. Against the Chennai Super Kings, he couldn’t convert the start he got and got dismissed for just 18.
In yesterday’s game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he was playing at his home ground, the Chinnaswamy Stadium and arguably his favourite opponents. His highest score in the IPL came against RCB, when he smashed a breathtaking 132. The RCB batters were off to a great start but in the middle, they lost their way and ended up with a total of 175. There wickets fell at one end, but once again it was KL Rahul who spoiled the party of RCB with a brilliant knock of 57. The Delhi Capitals won the game by 6 wickets, credit to some late blows by David Miller.
KL Rahul is looking in good touch after a tough start to the season, he will be looking to capitalize on the form he has built. Rahul and his side have some important games coming up and the batter will be confident that he can get plenty more runs and win some games for the Capitals.
