24-year-old Prema Rawat created history for Uttarakhand against Hyderabad in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at the MCA Cricket Stadium in Gahunje. The India leg-spinner walked out at number four in the 18th
over. Rawat reached her half-century in just 14 balls which was the fastest fifty in the history of women’s T20 cricket. She finished unbeaten on 50, striking six fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 357.14. The previous record was of 15 balls which had been shared by England’s Marie Kelly, New Zealand’s Laura Harris, and Pakistan captain Fatima Sana. Rawat bettered it by one delivery, and in doing so announced herself as a genuine all-round force.
The innings was pure late-order carnage. She began by smashing three consecutive boundaries off medium-pacer Sakshi Rao, then plundered 18 runs from an over by off-spinner Vanka Pooja. In the final over she produced the decisive flourish, smashing 6, 4, 4 and 6 off Kunchala Niteesha to bring up the landmark. Partner Raghvi Bist, who remained unbeaten on 72 off 50 balls, provided the perfect platform. Together they helped Uttarakhand post a commanding 187 for 2.
Prema Rawat stars with bat and ball as Uttarakhand beat Hyderabad
Prema Rawat continued to put up an excellent effort with the ball as she picked up two wickets for just 12 runs in her four overs, removing openers G Kavyasree and N Kranthi Reddy. Hyderabad crumbled to 98 for 8, handing Uttarakhand an emphatic 89-run victory. Rawat was named Player of the Match for her complete performance. A right-arm leg-spinner and useful lower-order batter, she was bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹1.2 crore in the 2025 WPL auction and has been part of their title-winning campaigns.
She made her India T20I debut in June 2026 during the Women’s T20 World Cup as a replacement for the injured Shreyanka Patil and has already shown her value with the ball, including figures of 3 for 9 against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. This record-breaking knock is different as it showcases the explosive batting talent that has long been hinted at but unable to fully unleash on the big stage.
