Zimbabwe beat Australia by 23 runs in the 19th match of the 2026 WT20. It was a huge upset and the Zimbabwe side delivered their best performance. Let us look at how twitter reacted to this win. Zimbabwe were
put into bat first and got off to a flying start and they put up half century partnership for the opening wicket. Brian Bennett was terrific scoring a fifty and along with Ryan Burl helped Zimbabwe set up a good platform. It was the captain Sikandar Raza who provided the finishing touches as he smashed an unbeaten 25 of just 13 balls.
Bennett remained unbeaten on 64 as Zimbabwe finished at 169/2. In reply, Australia were bowled out for just 146. They lost four quick wickets within 30 runs as Head, David, Inglis and Green went back to the pavilion. Matt Renshaw played a good knock and completed his half century but it was too much at the end. Maxwell struggled as he was dismissed for 31 runs of 32 balls as Australia were in all sorts of trouble.

Renshaw kept going but found no support as Stoinis also was dismissed cheaply. In the end the Zimbabwe bowlers held their nerve to close out the game. Blessing Muzarabani was the player of the match for picking up four wickets and was spectacular in this game as Zimbabwe created history.
This was the second win for Zimbabwe against Australia in WT20 and Australia have never beaten Zimbabwe in WT20 having lost to them back in 2007. Ashwin took it to twitter and analyzed the Zimbabwe tactics and the former Indian spinner was full of praise.
This is clinical from Zim. Batting and bowling have been great but Tony Munyonga’s fielding has piled on the pressure. He has saved at least 12-15 runs and closes the deal with a spectacular catch at deep mid wicket.🔥🔥 When the ground sizes are proper, cricketing skills truly…

This loss has put Australia in danger of qualifying for the Super 8s and now they need to win their other matches and also ensure the NRR is good enough. Australia have been hit with injuries as their captain Mitch Marsh also has been out of action for the last few games and their bowling unit just could not step up to Zimbabwe today. It has been a terrific WT20 so far and this result has just ensured the tournament has been a success so far.
