Indian Women Team’s star Kranti Gaud has been handed a big punishment for breaching the ICC code of conduct during the ACC T20 Women’s Asia Cup. On Sunday, September 14, India were up against Sri Lanka
in the summit clash of the Asia Cup, where the Women in Blue recorded a 72-run win to reclaim the Asia Cup for the eighth time. During the game, Gaud was found to have breached an ICC Code of Conduct, which ended up costing her 10 per cent of her match fee as well as a demerit point.
According to ICC, Gaud was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. It relates to, “using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.” Apart from it, she has also been handed one demerit point, which also happens to be her first offence in a 24-month period.

What Led to Kranti Gaud Getting Fined 10 Per Cent of Match Fee?
During the first over of Sri Lanka’s innings in the ACC Asia Cup 2026 Final, Gaud gave a fiery send off to Dulani on 4 off 4, by showing her the way to the pavilion. The ICC punished her with one demerit point and fined her 10 per cent of the fee. Since the Indian pacer admitted the offence, the Global Governing Body didn’t conduct an official hearing.

“Gaud admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Supriya Rani Das of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Saleema Imtiaz and Shathira Jakir Jesy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Humaira Farah levelled the charge,” the statement further read.
Notably, Gaud only bowled two overs in the final but made a big impact as she dismissed the SL opener to help the ultimate winners restrict the counterparts at 111.
