Gujarat Titans once again swapped their traditional dark blue kit for a special lavender jersey during IPL 2026 as part of the franchise's annual cancer
awareness initiative.
The move has now become one of the most recognisable social campaigns associated with the franchise, with GT using the platform to spread awareness around cancer screening, treatment and support for survivors.
What does Gujarat Titans Lavender jersey represent?
According to Gujarat Titans, the lavender jersey is designed to honour cancer fighters, survivors and families affected by the disease.
Unlike ribbons associated with specific cancers, lavender is globally recognised as the colour representing awareness for all forms of cancer.
The initiative aims to encourage conversations around early detection, access to quality care and emotional support for patients battling the illness.
Captain Shubman Gill said the jersey also serves as a tribute to the resilience shown by cancer survivors.
Fourth straight year of GT's cancer awareness campaign
IPL 2026 marks the fourth consecutive season in which Gujarat Titans have worn a special lavender kit for a designated home fixture.
The campaign first began during IPL 2023 and has gradually become an annual tradition for the franchise.
In previous editions, GT wore the lavender jersey during matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders before continuing the initiative again this season.
Gujarat Titans also involve fans inside the stadium
The awareness campaign extends beyond the players' jerseys.
GT also distribute thousands of lavender flags and replica shirts among supporters inside the stadium to amplify the message and visually turn the venue into a symbol of solidarity for cancer awareness.
The franchise has repeatedly stated that the campaign is focused not only on visibility, but also on encouraging people to prioritise regular health screenings and early medical intervention.
IPL franchises increasingly using platform for social causes
Over the last few years, IPL teams have increasingly used marquee matches and alternate jerseys to support social initiatives and awareness campaigns.
For Gujarat Titans, however, the lavender jersey has now become closely tied to the franchise's identity and community outreach efforts.
While the IPL remains centred around cricket and entertainment, initiatives like these continue to show how franchises are also attempting to use the league's massive visibility for larger public causes.
