India's mystery spinner and the tournament's joint-highest wicket-taker once again mocked Pakistan after India clinched the T20 World Cup 2026 Trophy on Sunday
in Ahmedabad.
Batting first, Team India completely outfoxed the New Zealand bowling attack and piled up a massive 255/5 in 20 overs, with impressive half-centuries from Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan. The men in blue registered the highest score in the history of ICC T20I Finals.
Chasing the daunting total, the Kiwis struggled against the disciplined bowling attack and were eventually dismissed for a paltry total of 159. The comprehensive win not only helped India successfully defend their T20 World Cup crown but also made them the first team in history to win the tournament three times.

Following the victory, Varun Chakravarthy shared a humorous moment on his Instagram story, where he was seen holding the trophy while casually sipping tea from a cup. The quirky post from the mystery spinner quickly caught the attention of fans on social media.

This was not the first time that Varun Chakravarthy pulled off such a humorous stunt. Earlier, he had shared a similar post after India defeated Pakistan to win the Asia Cup 2025. During that tournament, Indian players reportedly declined to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi and returned without the silverware.
The following day, Chakravarthy posted a picture of himself lying on his bed with a teacup placed beside him, a playful substitute for the Asia Cup trophy. Later, in an interview, he revealed that he had originally planned to take a celebratory photo with the trophy on his bed. However, the trophy was not available and he decided to recreate the moment with a mug instead.

"I knew we were going to win. After the second match, I was sure that if we met them in the final, we would win. So I had planned everything-I planned to sleep with the cup next to me and take a photo. But after the match, there was nothing next to me. There was only a coffee cup, so I went ahead with that," he had explained.

Chakravarthy had a mixed campaign in this year's T20 World Cup. On one hand, he finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets, with Jasprit Bumrah. He also conceded 287 runs in the 31 overs, taking the economy rate to nearly 9.25.
The mystery spinner had been expensive in the final, with an economy rate of 13, and in the semifinal 2 against England, Chakravarthy was expensive once again, going at the rate of 16 runs per over. One of the major problems that the mystery spinner has encountered towards the business end of the tournament has been his inability to mix up the pace of his deliveries, bowling in the 90s.This has helped the batters read his deliveries from the back of the hand, and with little turn on offer due to the pace he bowls at, they have been able to line him up and hit him straight down the ground with relative ease.
