Ravi Bishnoi, who is spearheading the spin attack for the Rajasthan Royals, has become the nineteenth bowler to take 200 wickets in the T20Is in the match
against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday. Introduced as an impact substitute, Bishnoi made an immediate impact by claiming three wickets within his first nine deliveries.
He struck early by dismissing Sai Sudharsan, who had scored 73, in his opening over. The leg-spinner then continued his impressive spell by removing Glenn Phillips for 3 on the very first ball of his next over, with the batter mistiming an aerial shot that was safely taken by Jofra Archer.
Washington Sundar got off the mark with a boundary on the second delivery of Ravi Bishnoi's over, but his stay was short-lived. Attempting a big hit on the very next ball, Sundar mistimed his shot and was caught by Ravindra Jadeja.
Bishnoi's earlier dismissal of Glenn Phillips in the 13th over proved to be a landmark moment, as it marked his 200th wicket in T20 cricket. With this, he became the youngest Indian bowler to reach the milestone, achieving the feat at 25 years and 211 days, in just his 170th T20 appearance. A former ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup participant, Bishnoi continues to underline his rapid rise in the shortest format.
In the Indian Premier League, Bishnoi has represented franchises such as Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and now Rajasthan Royals. On the international stage, he has featured in 44 T20Is for India, claiming 64 wickets.
Meanwhile, Rashid Khan remains the youngest bowler overall to reach 200 T20 wickets, having achieved the milestone at the age of 23 years and 119 days.
