Rajasthan Royals have announced a significant reshuffle ahead of the new IPL season, involving multiple key player trades. The most notable among these
is the trade sending Sanju Samson, the team's long-time captain and fan favorite, to Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In return, Rajasthan Royals have secured the return of Ravindra Jadeja and the addition of English all-rounder Sam Curran.
Ravindra Jadeja's return is a heartfelt homecoming for the all-rounder, who was first discovered by the Rajasthan Royals during their title-winning campaign in 2008.
Jadeja reflected on his journey, stating, "Rajasthan Royals gave me my first platform and my first taste of victory. Coming back feels special - it's not just a team for me, it's home. Rajasthan Royals is where I won my first IPL, and I hope to win more with this current group of players. "
Jadeja's rich experience as a world-class all-rounder and leader is expected to bring significant value to the Royals.
The trade sees Sanju Samson, who has been a cornerstone of Rajasthan Royals for over a decade, moving to Chennai Super Kings. Samson's contribution to the Royals has been immense, growing from a 17-year-old trialist to one of Indian cricket's admired leaders.
Manoj Badale acknowledged his impact: "Sanju has been an exceptional ambassador of our values, and we thank him for everything he has done for the Royals family. " Kumar Sangakkara added, "Sanju's journey with the Royals has been remarkable. We respect his decision and wish him every success in the next chapter of his career. "
RR trade Nitish Rana to Delhi Capitals, Ferreira Returns
But not just that, RR have struck a deal with Delhi Capitals for a swap trade move ahead of the auction.
Rajasthan Royals have also brought back Donovan Ferreira as Nitish Rana moves to Delhi Capitals, adding more firepower to the Royals' batting lineup. Rana was part of the RR squad in IPL 2025 and played a decent part, but now moves to his home franchise with the Capitals. Ferreira, the Proteas international, was part of the Royals before and now makes a return in IPL 2026.
"It feels great to return to a familiar environment. I've had a good chat with Kumar and I'm looking
forward to playing my role for the Royals," Ferreira said after joining the Royals.
