Pranavi Sharath Urs scripted a historic moment for Indian golf on Saturday, winning the women's individual stroke play gold medal at the Asian Games 2026
in Aichi-Nagoya. The Mysuru golfer finished with a four-round total of 15-under-par 265, edging Singapore's Shannon Tan and China's Ruoning Yin. India also secured silver in the women's team event, adding another medal to its golf haul.
Pranavi entered the final round as the leader and maintained her composure under pressure at Kasugai Country Club East Course. She carded an even-par 70 to finish one stroke ahead of Tan and Yin, completing a landmark Asian Games debut with gold.
The triumph is particularly significant for Indian women's golf. Aditi Ashok had won silver in the individual event at Hangzhou 2022, but India had never won a women's golf gold at the Asian Games before Pranavi's breakthrough. The Indian women's team also clinched the Silver medal, a team comprised of Pranavi, Diksha Dagar and Aditi Ashok.
