Knight Riders (TKR) have decided to retire the iconic No. 47 jersey.
TKR's decision makes Bravo the first player in CPL history to have his jersey number retired, a landmark honour for one of the competition's most influential figures.
Bravo is the CPL's most decorated player, having won five titles during his playing career before adding another championship as TKR's head coach. He featured in 107 CPL matches and took 129 wickets, making him the tournament's all-time leading wicket-taker.
A pivotal member of TKR's title-winning teams, Bravo played a significant role in establishing the Knight Riders as the most successful franchise in CPL history. His impact continued even after he stepped away from playing.
Bravo announced his retirement from professional cricket in 2024 following an illustrious career as one of T20 cricket's leading all-rounders. He subsequently took over as TKR head coach, extending his relationship with the franchise from the field to the dugout.
Knight Riders group CEO Venky Mysore said the decision was a fitting tribute to Bravo's legacy.
"Dwayne Bravo's contribution to the Knight Riders and to the CPL is impossible to measure. Retiring No. 47 is our way of ensuring that his legacy will forever be a part of this franchise. "
Mysore added that Bravo was the natural choice to become the first CPL player to receive such recognition.
The No. 47 shirt will now remain permanently retired by TKR, symbolising Bravo's extraordinary association with the franchise and his transformation from championship-winning player to title-winning coach.
The honour further strengthens Bravo's enduring legacy in the CPL, where his performances and leadership helped define both the tournament and the Knight Riders' remarkable success.
