The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is set to stage a major first for Indian cricket. Multiple reports state that the opening match of the upcoming Big
Bash League season will be played there in the second week of December. It will mark the first foreign franchise league fixture ever held in India.
The proposal to host the Big Bash League opener in Chennai reached the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association earlier this year. Officials then passed the matter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India for clearance. A source linked to the talks said the BCCI has now approved the plan, clearing the way for the December game.
