1. Inaugural Women's Champions Trophy to be held in India
India will host the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy from February 14 to 28, 2027, with Mumbai and Vadodara selected as the venues. The six-team tournament will feature Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka. The teams will play a round-robin league, with the top two advancing to the February 28 final.
2. Gambhir, Agarkar to meet BCCI
India head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and BCCI Centre of Excellence head VVS Laxman are scheduled to meet BCCI officials in Mumbai on September 3. India's disappointing results - including the 2-0 T20I series loss to Ireland and 4-0 defeat to England - are expected to be discussed, along with player injuries and fitness management.
3. South to meet East in Duleep Trophy final
South Zone will face East Zone in the 2026 Duleep Trophy final in Chennai from September 6. South secured their place after defeating North Zone by seven wickets, with captain Tilak Varma following his first-innings 116 not out with an unbeaten 51. East, meanwhile, beat defending champions Central Zone by four wickets, setting up a clash featuring Tilak and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
4. Imam-ul-Haq may face ban for hiding injury
Imam-ul-Haq could face disciplinary action from the PCB following questions over his absence from Pakistan's second Test against England at Lord's. Imam sustained a low-grade calf strain while fielding but did not bat in either innings. PCB officials have indicated an inquiry will be held, while allegations that he concealed or exaggerated the injury have intensified the controversy.
5. Hampshire remove Scott Kuggeleijn after backlash
Hampshire have cancelled Scott Kuggeleijn's involvement with the club after strong backlash from supporters and staff. The New Zealand all-rounder had been named in the squad for the County Championship match against Warwickshire, but the club reversed the decision shortly before the game. Kuggeleijn was acquitted of a rape charge in 2017 after facing a retrial following a hung jury.
6. Armando Gonzalez scores first goal for Olympiacos
Mexican forward Armando "La Hormiga" González scored his first goal for Olympiacos in only his second appearance for the Greek club. Making his first start, González opened the scoring in the 34th minute against AEL Larissa in the Greek Cup and also provided an assist as Olympiacos won 4-0. It was his first goal in European football since arriving from Chivas.
7. Lakshya Sen bows out of China Masters
Lakshya Sen suffered an early exit from the China Masters after losing to Canada's Victor Lai in the opening round. The Indian shuttler went down 14-21, 7-21 in just 38 minutes at the Shenzhen Arena. Lai, who is ranked ninth in the world and recently won a World Championships bronze medal, produced a dominant performance to end Sen's campaign.
8. Hussey turns down England batting coach role
Former Australia batter Michael Hussey has rejected the opportunity to become England's Test batting coach under Stephen Fleming. Instead, Hussey has agreed to work with Cricket Australia in a part-time consultancy role. The decision comes ahead of the 2027 Ashes and leaves Fleming searching for another batting coach as England rebuild their red-ball coaching staff.
