Now, they are a team searching for answers as their current slide puts their playoffs qualification chances under doubt.
Punjab Kings' defeat to Mumbai Indians in Dharamsala marked their fifth consecutive loss - a stunning reversal for a side that had earlier stitched together five straight victories. In the process, PBKS became only the second team in IPL history after Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2022 to follow five or more successive wins with five straight defeats.
The collapse has not happened because of one isolated issue. Punjab's slide is the result of multiple cracks appearing simultaneously - tactical, bowling-related, psychological and situational.
