The countdown to the IPL 2026 auction has officially begun, with the league confirming the final roster of players set to go under the hammer in Abu Dhabi
on December 16. A total of 350 cricketers have made it to the auction list after a massive 1,390 registrations, marking one of the most competitive shortlisting processes in IPL history.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed that the final list features 240 Indian players and 110 overseas names, showcasing a blend of experience and rising talent. Interestingly, the majority of the pool is made up of uncapped players, including 224 from India and 14 from overseas, signalling a strong push towards discovering the next wave of T20 stars.
Teams will compete for 77 available squad spots, with 31 slots reserved strictly for overseas signings. With several franchises having released big-budget players during the retention phase, aggressive bidding wars are widely anticipated.
Among the overseas contingent, Bangladesh has seven representatives hoping to secure a contract this year. The full list and base prices are as follows:
- Mustafizur Rahman - INR 2 crore (approx. 2.72 crore BDT)
- Rishad Hossain - INR 75 lakh (approx. 1.02 crore BDT)
- Tanzim Hasan Sakib - INR 75 lakh (approx. 1.02 crore BDT)
- Nahid Rana - INR 75 lakh (approx. 1.02 crore BDT)
- Shoriful Islam - INR 75 lakh (approx. 1.02 crore BDT)
- Rakibul Hasan - INR 30 lakh (approx. 40.8 lakh BDT)
- Taskin Ahmed - INR 75 lakh (approx. 1.02 crore BDT)
Among the Bangladeshi contingent, Mustafizur Rahman stands out as the only player with previous IPL experience, having featured for multiple franchises in earlier editions. He has the highest base price of INR 2 cr (2.72 cr BDT). Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed-who was close to joining Lucknow Super Giants few seasons back will once again hope for a breakthrough opportunity.
With demand high and spots limited, the December 16 auction promises excitement, unpredictability, and potentially historic signings. All eyes will now be on how many Bangladeshi players can secure a franchise and make an impact in IPL 2026.
