The Duleep Trophy 2025 is scheduled from August 28 to September 11, 2025. Organized by the BCCI, it features zonal teams like North, South, East, West,
Central, and North East Zones, with matches played in Bengaluru.
The competition serves as a vital platform for emerging and established domestic cricket talent as the six zones will battle for supremacy.
West Zone has announced a formidable 15-member squad. The squad, featuring a commanding blend of established internationals and emerging domestic talents, will be led by Mumbai's seasoned all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Notably, senior pros Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have been omitted, signalling a fresh focus on youth and recent form as West Zone eyes a successful campaign this domestic season.
The squad boasts the explosive India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, dynamic batsman Shreyas Iyer, and consistent run-scorer Sarfaraz Khan - all underlining Mumbai's deep cricketing reserves. Maharashtra's Ruturaj Gaikwad also features after a strong showing in the recent IPL.
Similarly, East Zone has named a strong squad as well, which has the likes of Mohammed Shami, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Akash Deep among the star India players. Jharkhand's Ishan Kishan has been named captain for the competition, whereas 14-year-old Vaihav Suryavanshi is picked among the standby names.
The South Zone squad for the 2025-26 Duleep Trophy is captained by N. Tilak Varma, with Mohammed Azharuddeen as vice-captain. The 16-member team features key players including Tanmay Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal, Mohit Kale, Salman Nizar, Narayan Jagadeesan, R. Sai Kishore, Vyshak Vijaykumar, and others. Four Kerala players are part of the squad recognizing their strong Ranji Trophy performance.
Shubman Gill will be leading the North Zone team in the tournament. The India Test captain had a decent outing on his debut series in England and will be hoping to lead his zonal team towards a fruitful outing. Arshdeep Singh, Anshul Kamboj and Harshit Rana have also been named in the team.
Jammu and Kashmir has seen a fair number of players for this Duleep Trophy squad. Shubham Khajuria, Yudhvir Singh Charak and Auqib Nabi are also in the side, as the latter was the highest wicket-taking pacer last season in the Ranji Trophy. Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Sahil Lotra are also named in the main squad, whereas Umar Nazir, Abid Mushtaq are kept as standbys.
