India's path to T20 World Cup 2026 semifinals remains open, but it's now a steep climb for Suryakumar Yadav's side. They face Zimbabwe in Chennai on February 26 and West Indies in Kolkata on March 1.
If India win last Two Matches -
They will be in a position to qualify for semifinals, but things can be complicated here as well. India will have to ensure two big victories to lift their Net Run Rate, which took a huge hit with the defeat to South Africa.
In this case, they would have to hope for South Africa winning their remaining two matches as well, which would definitely give them the ticket for the semis.
If India win only One out of Two -
As the West Indies defeated Zimbabwe on Monday (February 23), India must beat West Indies but could ill-afford a loss to Zimbabwe, while banking on South Africa to handle both. In that case, India's win over West Indies would have to be in such a huge deficit that it would propel their Net Run Rate over both Zimbabwe and West Indies.
In this scenario, India, Zimbabwe and the West Indies both would all be stranded with 2 points. But this way to Super Eight may not be enough as India already has an inferior NRR.
