Bayern Munich returned to form in style as Luis Diaz delivered a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over Hoffenheim, with Harry Kane scoring twice and assisting once.
The result ended Bayern's two-match winless league run and kept Bayern six points clear at the top after 21 Bundesliga games in the 2025-26 campaign.
The victory also underlined Bayern's attacking strength this season, as the team moved to 79 league goals from 21 matches, a new record at this stage of any Bundesliga campaign. That output arrived despite Bayern entering this fixture with only four points from the first three league games of the season's second half.
Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 20th minute after Kevin Akpoguma brought down Diaz inside the box, a foul that led to a red card as Akpoguma was judged the last defender. Hoffenheim, reduced to ten players early, still created chances and did not fold immediately despite the setback.
Five minutes after Kane's opener, Ozan Kabak found space in the area but directed a header wide when unmarked. Fisnik Asllani then hit the crossbar with another header. Asllani capitalised soon after in the 35th minute, intercepting a misplaced Manuel Neuer pass before setting up Andrej Kramaric to finish and level the score.
Bayern quickly restored control before half-time when Diaz drew another penalty, this time after contact from Vladimir Coufal inside the area. Kane again converted from the spot for a second goal, then shifted into creator mode. The England captain sent a precise pass to Diaz, who guided a low shot past Oliver Baumann into the far corner.
Kane almost completed a hat-trick after the interval, meeting a cross with a strong header that Baumann pushed over the bar. Bayern's fourth goal arrived in the 62nd minute when Michael Olise slid a pass across goal for Diaz, who finished confidently. Diaz then sealed the hat-trick on 89 minutes, steering a composed shot into the bottom corner.

Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim: Data debrief and player statistics
Before this fixture, Bayern's four points from three second-half-of-season league games represented the club's weakest return at that stage since 2014-15. The emphatic response against Hoffenheim eased pressure and kept Bayern on course in the title race, with the attack again proving reliable despite the brief dip in results.
Kramaric's first-half equaliser maintained a notable personal record, as no active Bundesliga player has scored more goals against Bayern than Kramaric, who now has nine. For Bayern, Olise extended a strong creative run, becoming the first player since Thomas Muller in 2021 to record an assist in six straight Bundesliga matches.
Olise now stands on 16 assists for the 2025-26 season, already ahead of last season's total of 15. Combined with Diaz's treble and Kane's double, the performance highlighted Bayern's multiple attacking threats. The display against Hoffenheim suggested Bayern remained dangerous in front of goal despite recent inconsistency earlier in the second half of the season.
