the end of a relentless two-year journey.
Following the historic victory, an emotional but composed "SKY" opened up that this win wasn't just about one match; it was the culmination of a cycle that began right after the 2024 World Cup.
Reflecting on the leadership role handed to him by the ex-BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and former captain Rohit Sharma, he admitted the magnitude of the achievement is still settling in.
"I think it'll take a little bit of time (to sink in), but definitely very happy with what has happened today. It has been a long journey. Started post-2024 World Cup when BCCI, at that time, Jay (Shah) bhai, at that time Secretary, Rohit (Sharma) Bhai and everyone, they showed faith in me, gave me an opportunity to lead this wonderful side and then it was a long, long, long cycle coming here again at the Narendra Modi Stadium and doing it. The captain emphasized that the team's success was built on the "good habits" formed during their previous T20 World Cup campaign.

"I think it's really important to understand what they (Sanju, Abhishek and Varun) are capable of. And I knew they had the match winners in them. I think the timing was perfect for Sanju to come in.
