Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma etched his name into an unwanted piece of IPL history after registering a duck against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede
Stadium on Sunday.
Opening the batting in Mumbai's chase of 206, Rohit lasted just four deliveries before being dismissed by Jofra Archer in the opening over. The former MI captain failed to get off the mark, bringing an abrupt end to his final innings of the IPL 2026 season.
The dismissal saw Rohit equal Glenn Maxwell's record for the most ducks in IPL history. Both players now have 19 ducks in the tournament, moving clear of Sunil Narine and Dinesh Karthik, who occupy the next spot on the list with 18 each.
Rohit Sharma falls as Archer strikes early
Rajasthan Royals could hardly have asked for a better start while defending 205/8. Archer generated pace and bounce with the new ball and removed Rohit before the veteran batter could settle at the crease.
The wicket added another chapter to Archer's impressive IPL 2026 campaign, with the England fast bowler once again delivering an early breakthrough in a high-pressure encounter.
