Rahul, usually the epitome of measured elegance, shed his anchor tag completely. He blazed to 146 not out off just 64 balls, striking at a blistering 228. His timing on the drive was immaculate, while his ability to clear the ropes-nine sixes in total-left the Punjab bowlers clueless. What stood out was his calm between the boundaries; he rotated strike effortlessly, allowing his partner to go big without pressure.
Nitish Rana, returning to form in style, matched Rahul's intensity with a swashbuckling 91 off 44 deliveries (strike rate 206).
