In the high-pressure cauldron of IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's dressing room has become a tight-knit family unit, and all-rounder Romario Shepherd
is loving every moment of it.
Retained by RCB after his match-winning contributions to their maiden title win in 2025, the Guyanese star has quickly become a fan favourite for his explosive cameos and bowling variations - and now, he is opening up about the lighter side of life inside the RCB camp.
Shepherd, who grew up watching RCB because of Chris Gayle, has embraced the franchise fully. Reflecting on his time with the team during the current season, he highlighted the strong bonds and positive environment.
"Everyone knows TD (Tim David) is my guy. Salt, Bethell, even VK, I did not know he was this funny," Shepherd said.
Virat Kohli, the India star's on-field intensity is legendary, but Shepherd revealed a completely different side to the RCB icon that has made long stints away from home much easier.
"You see Virat Kohli on the cricket field and he is so intense, but off the field he is actually a very funny guy," he added.
"These guys make me happy, especially when you are away from home for so long. It is an unbelievable group of guys both on and off the cricket field. RCB is blessed to have senior players mixed with younger players in one dressing room," he added.
For Shepherd, pulling on the RCB jersey carries a special global connection with fans worldwide.
"RCB gave me a chance and the opportunity to go out there and represent one of the biggest franchises in the IPL. It changes the way people follow you," the West Indies all-rounded said.
As IPL 2026 unfolds, Shepherd's insights underscore why RCB's blend of senior stalwarts like Virat Kohli and emerging talents has created such a special atmosphere - one where even the most intense competitor on the field becomes a source of laughter and camaraderie off it.
