Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lodged an official complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), alleging that the franchise was "insulted
and undermined" during their IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 5.
The complaint relates to in-stadium entertainment during the match, including the playing of a viral track referencing South Indian food items, which CSK felt stereotyped their Tamil Nadu identity.
'Dosa, idli, sambar' track sparks controversy
The issue centres around a song played by the stadium DJ during the match that featured the line "Dosa, idli, sambar, chutney. "
The track, which has circulated widely on social media and meme platforms, was reportedly played during moments in the game that CSK officials felt were inappropriate. The franchise believed that the timing and context of the song's usage crossed acceptable boundaries of fan engagement.
The matter quickly drew attention within IPL circles, with officials confirming that the complaint has been formally submitted for review.
CSK raise concerns over DJ comments during match
CSK management stated that their concerns were not limited to the song alone. The franchise also objected to certain remarks allegedly made by the stadium DJ following the dismissal of their players.
