The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026, its fourth edition, explodes into action on January 9 with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) clashing against
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium.
Running until early February, the tournament features 22 high-octane matches across two venues: Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, culminating in playoffs and a final.
The WPL 2026 league stage will be played in a round robin format. Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium hosts the opening 11 games, after which the action shifts to Vadodara's Kottambi Stadium for the remaining nine league matches, plus the Eliminator and final. This season includes two double-header days, both scheduled at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
WPL 2026 Teams
Five franchises battle it out:
Mumbai Indians (MI Women), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB Women), Delhi Capitals (DC Women), Gujarat Giants (GG), and UP Warriorz (UPW).
The November 2025 auction shook things up, with Deepti Sharma fetching a record ₹3.2 crore for UPW, bolstering their spin attack alongside Sophie Ecclestone. Other marquee signings include international stars like Ashleigh Gardner (GG) and emerging talents eyeing breakthroughs.
MI, led by Harmanpreet Kaur and boasting all-rounders Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr, remain favorites for a third title. However, RCB's Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry, DC's Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma, and UPW's revamped squad pose stiff challenges. GG aims to rebound from past underperformances with Beth Mooney at the helm.
