India have seen their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign shaping up exactly the way they wanted it to be. With three wins in three group stage matches, they have already
qualified for the Super 8 and are looking as strong as they are expected.
India kicked off their campaign on February 7 against the United States in Mumbai, posting 161/9. Despite a mid-innings collapse triggered by Shadley van Schalkwyk's three wickets in one over, Suryakumar Yadav's fighting 84 off 49 balls steadied the innings. The bowlers then restricted the USA to 132/8, winning by 29 runs.
Next, on February 12 against Namibia in Delhi, India exploded to 209/9 in 20 overs, powered by aggressive batting (including Ishan Kishan's quickfire contribution). Varun Chakaravarthy starred with the ball, taking three wickets as Namibia collapsed to 116 all out, handing India a massive 93-run victory, their largest margin in a T20 World Cup match.
The highlight came on February 15 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Colombo. India posted 175/7, with Ishan Kishan smashing 77 off 40 balls in a commanding display. Pakistan crumbled to 114 all out (bowled out in 18 overs), resulting in a 61-run thrashing. This win extended India's dominance over Pakistan in T20 World Cups and solidified their top spot in Group A.
They will complete their group stage responsibilities against Netherlands on Wednesday (February 18) in Ahmedabad before the Super 8s.
