Lionel Messi is set to grace India in December as the Argentine legend will be in the country and hover around cities in a trip, where he will visit Kolkata,

Mumbai and Delhi.

But even before that, Cristiano Ronaldo may set foot in the country, but not for any exhibition or programme, but for serious football.

Yes, it may sound a bit strange, but thanks to the AFC three-tier continental football, it can become a real possibility.

As the upcoming season starts, Mohun Bagan Super Giant and FC Goa are the two Indian teams who have booked their places for the AFC Champions League Two competition. The group stages of the competition will be played in zonal divisions, and MBSG and FC Goa are part of the West Division, along with Saudi Arabia giants Al Nassr, led by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.

The West Division teams will be further four groups, and if Al Nassr are coupled in the same group with Mohun Bagan or FC Goa, they may potentially come to India if the grouping allots them an away match to India. If the Mariners are slotted in the group with Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo may come to Kolkata and play at the iconic Yuba Bharati Krirangan, a venue where Lionel Messi has already played.
