The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season will begin on March 28, as it was announced just ahead of the India vs New Zealand ICC Men's T20 World Cup
2026 final at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Although the date has been announced, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to release the schedule, but it is set to be announced soon.
Fans buzzing with excitement for the full IPL fixtures got a key update from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on Tuesday. The BCCI secretary revealed that the schedule will be released in a couple of days.
"We will announce the first 20-day schedule of IPL in 2 or 3 days after considering the election dates in a few states and will announce the rest of the tournament schedule later," Saikia was quoted as saying by ANI.
The IPL 2026 The schedule release will happen in phases due to upcoming assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched the IPL 2025 title by defeating Punjab Kings by six runs in the Ahmedabad summit clash. Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Secretary Santosh Menon recently revealed that Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will host five RCB home games, the IPL 2026 final, and one playoff match.
RCB's other two home fixtures will shift to the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad are among the teams that have already started their pre-season campaign ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Three India stalwarts - MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, are set to return to the field for their respective teams in the IPL this year. Rohit and Dhoni were also present at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad as they witnessed India lifting their 3rd T20 World Cup title.
