The IPL 2026 season has seen a series of fines imposed on players and team staff for breaches of the league's code of conduct and slow over-rate offences,
reinforcing the tournament's strict stance on discipline and match regulations.
Tim David received one of the heaviest sanctions, fined 50 per cent of his match fee and handed two demerit points for a code of conduct breach. Similarly, Kyle Jamieson was fined 20 per cent of his match fee and given one demerit point, while Riyan Parag, Nitish Rana, and Nandre Burger were each fined and also received one demerit point.
IPL 2026: Over-Rate Violations Account For Maximum Penalties
Over-rate violations accounted for several penalties across teams. Pat Cummins, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane were each fined Rs 12 lakh for their respective teams' slow over-rates, with Iyer's offence marked as a second team violation. Kieron Pollard was fined 15 per cent of his match fee for a similar breach.
Other players penalised for disciplinary reasons included Hardik Pandya and Ruturaj Gaikwad, both fined 12 per cent of their match fees. Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag were fined 25 per cent, while young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi was fined 10 per cent.
The sanctions extended beyond players, with senior coach Andy Flower fined 15 per cent of his match fee, underlining that team officials are equally accountable under IPL regulations.
The IPL has consistently emphasised adherence to its code of conduct, particularly regarding maintaining over rates and on-field discipline. These penalties serve as a reminder to franchises and players alike that violations will attract strict action as the league seeks to uphold professionalism and the spirit of the game.
