The Indian Premier League transfer window is heating up, and Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya is squarely at the centre of the action.
Ahead of
the upcoming IPL 2027 season, Hardik Pandya has been a subject of departure from Mumbai Indians, and the India all-rounder is seeking a new suitor actively.
As per multiple reports, Hardik's departure from MI is a matter of time, with multiple IPL franchises closely monitoring the situation and are interested in securing a trade move for him.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders appear highly keen on securing Pandya to fill a massive gap in their squad. Following the retirement of Ajinkya Rahane, the franchise is looking to offer Pandya a long-term captaincy role. KKR management is actively engaged in discussions with Mumbai Indians regarding the exact trade mechanics and securing the player's consent. Handing him the captain's armband straight away makes KKR an incredibly attractive destination for the fast-bowling all-rounder.
Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings are also aggressively in the hunt. Unlike KKR, a captaincy role at CSK is firmly ruled out since Ruturaj Gaikwad currently leads the side. However, adding a proven match-winner like Pandya would massively bolster the core of their playing eleven. According to reports, CSK is currently involved in complex, high-profile talks with Mumbai. These discussions could potentially involve major player exchange packages alongside cash deals.
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals are the third team in this heavyweight transfer battle. RR was previously linked to Pandya in discussions that involved massive player swaps, with names like young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal being mentioned. However, a move to Jaipur is now considered less likely after the franchise recently committed to Riyan Parag within their internal leadership structure. Despite this shift in focus, Rajasthan is still being mentioned in the wider trade race.
Looking strictly at squad balance and immediate requirements, Kolkata Knight Riders need Hardik Pandya the most. With Ajinkya Rahane out of the picture, KKR desperately lacks an experienced Indian captain to steer the ship. A seam-bowling all-rounder who can clear the ropes perfectly fits the aggressive brand of cricket played at Eden Gardens.
