It was yet another horrific submission from Pakistan as they continued their slump against India, this time in the T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo.
Pakistan's
batting lineup crumbled spectacularly, handing India a commanding 61-run victory and securing their spot in the Super 8s. Chasing India's total, Pakistan's innings imploded from the outset.
IND vs PAK: Pakistan fail to put a show, again
They lost early wickets in reckless fashion - Sahibzada Farhan top-edged a wild slog off Hardik Pandya for a duck, Saim Ayub was trapped lbw by Jasprit Bumrah attempting an unnecessary across-the-line heave, and captain Salman Agha mistimed another loose shot to mid-on. This left them reeling at 13/3 in the powerplay.
The middle order offered little resistance. Babar Azam, often criticized for conservative play, fell for a low score after a poor shot selection against spin. Usman Khan provided brief hope with 44, but even he perished stumped after charging down recklessly. Subsequent batters, including Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan, played irresponsible strokes-slogs, wild swings, and ill-timed charges-under scoreboard pressure on a gripping, slow pitch.
Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, Bumrah, and Hardik exploited this chaos, sharing wickets efficiently as Pakistan folded for 114 in 18 overs.
Pakistan batters bashed by Rameez Raja, Robin Uthappa
Pakistan's approach highlighted a recurring issue: poor shot selection and failure to adapt to conditions, turning a chaseable target into a rout. India's disciplined bowling and fielding capitalized on every error, marking their eighth T20 World Cup win over Pakistan in dominant fashion.
And although things have been dicey between India and Pakistan in recent times, the commentators of both countries united in bashing the Pakistani batters. Rameez Raja and Robin Uthappa were together commentating, and they couldn't agree more with each other while explaining Pakistan's crisis.
"I think the case was dismissed in the first few hours as far as Pakistan is concerned because they lost wickets and they lost rhythm and they were never in this after that moment. I feel that they were possessed in a way to just hit the ball out of the park because that's the modern way of playing the game. I think that's weighing too much on their minds. Rather than playing the situation and the conditions and having a game plan. I think they just had individual game plans. It wasn't a team strategy as such," Rameez Raja said live on-air.
And agreeing to Rameez, former India batter Robin Uthappa echoed the same lines.
"You might just be right, Rameez. I think they've had more individual game plans than just a team game plan. Because the conditions are always going to dictate how you're going to bat and where you're going to score runs, against whom you're going to score runs. I don't think Pakistan assessed that at all tonight. They didn't even give themselves a chance," Uthappa said.
