Joe Root marked his return to England's Test captaincy with another significant milestone as the hosts defeated Pakistan by 194 runs in the second Test at Lord's,
taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
The victory was Root's second in as many Tests since reclaiming the England captaincy, following the emphatic innings-and-103-run win at Headingley in the series opener.
After Pakistan were dismissed for 110 in their first innings, England secured a 180-run lead before making 208 in their second innings to set Pakistan a daunting target of 389.
Pakistan showed some resistance through Saud Shakeel, who scored a fighting 97 off 122 balls, but Ollie Robinson dismantled the lower order with four wickets for 24. Robinson finished with match figures of 8-35, while Josh Tongue claimed three wickets in the second innings.
Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 194, handing Root his first Test series win as England captain since returning to the role. England will now look to complete a 3-0 sweep in the third Test at Edgbaston, beginning September 9.
"It does feel good, and I guess the way that we've done it as well, I think it's been pretty convincing. The guys have played some really good cricket in some difficult conditions, especially with the bat. I think the guys have adapted really well to what's been thrown at them. They've found a really good tempo on different surfaces and managed to get some really good scores in the conditions that we've had," Root said after the match.

Root has now recorded 15 wins in 25 matches as England captain against Asian teams, moving ahead of Andrew Strauss, who had 14 wins from 22 matches. Alastair Cook follows with 12 victories from 30 matches, while Nasser Hussain and Ben Stokes are joint-fifth with seven wins each.
