Jammu and Kashmir pace sensation Auqib Nabi has got a massive move in the IPL 2026 auction, as the pacer was sold to a massive Rs 8.40 crore to Delhi Capitals.
Nabi, who has been a sensation for J&K in domestic cricket, was a player in demand. As many four franchises went for him in the mini auction, but it was the Capitals who acquired his services.
Over the past few seasons, Auqib has developed into a reliable swing bowler with growing expertise in death-over bowling, enhancing his impact in limited-overs cricket. His performance in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy-taking 15 wickets in seven matches at an economy rate below eight-reflects his continuous improvement.
Who is Auqib Nabi?
Auqib Nabi Dar, born on 4 November 1996 in Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir, is a talented Indian cricketer who plays for Jammu & Kashmir as a bowling all-rounder.
A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium pacer, he debuted in List A cricket during the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, made his T20 debut in the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and played his first-class debut in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy. Renowned for his ability to take wickets consistently, he has claimed 125 first-class wickets, with a career-best of 7/24. In the 2024-25 Ranji season, he captured 44 wickets and earned selection for North Zone in the 2025-26 Duleep Trophy.
"Honestly, it feels disappointing," the bowler said MyKhel in an exclusive interview after getting unsold in the mega auction last year.
"I've been performing consistently in the Ranji Trophy and other formats. This season, I've been among the leading wicket-takers as a fast bowler in India. Five wickets in five matches is not easy, especially for a pacer. It's disheartening when such performances go unnoticed. The name was not even mentioned. "
But time has finally arrived for the pacer, who is ecstatic to find himself in the map of the Indian Premier League.
