The biggest prize in the Asian Games cricket competition comes down to exactly the matchup everyone wanted. India and Pakistan meet Saturday for gold in Aichi-Nagoya,
and both sides got there in completely different fashion.
India's path ran through a dominant semi-final beatdown of Sri Lanka. A hard-fought 169, powered by Ishan Kishan's 80 off 46, gave India's bowlers the platform they needed - Sri Lanka collapsed to 33/6 inside the powerplay and were eventually bowled out for just 45, handing India a 124-run win.
Pakistan's route was tighter and rain-affected. In a shortened first semi-final at Korogi Sports Park, they chased down 112 in just 11.3 overs against Bangladesh, leaning heavily on their spin attack for a six-wicket win. Notably, Sahibzada Farhan's side has played this entire tournament without most of Pakistan's established senior names, relying instead on a significantly changed squad.
With India and Pakistan placed in opposite halves of the draw specifically to set up this exact final if both advanced, the tournament has delivered precisely the matchup organizers were hoping for.

What Happens If It Rains
Weather has been a genuine storyline throughout this tournament, not just a footnote. Four quarter-final matches - India vs Afghanistan, Pakistan vs Hong Kong, Sri Lanka vs Nepal, and Bangladesh vs Malaysia - were all washed out, with India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh advancing to the semi-finals purely on the strength of superior ICC rankings.
The final itself carries real rain risk, with current forecasts showing a 40% chance of rain on October 3. Crucially, the rules this time differ from the last edition: at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, India were awarded gold outright when their final against Afghanistan was washed out, based on higher ranking. This time, under the Asian Games' own rules, a washed-out final would instead see the gold medal shared between both finalists - meaning if India and Pakistan can't complete this match, both nations would be crowned joint champions, a rare outcome in the sport.
Stakes Beyond the Medal
India are defending the gold they won in Hangzhou in 2023, and a win here would mean back-to-back Asian Games titles in men's cricket. The occasion carries extra weight too, with cricket's push toward a place at the LA 2028 Olympics adding significance to every continental title contested in the build-up. India's women have already delivered their half of a potential golden double, having defended their own Asian Games title in Aichi-Nagoya with a 147-run win over Sri Lanka in their final.

India have won every one of their last five meetings against Pakistan in this format - a run that gives them a clear psychological edge heading into Saturday, even accounting for the different composition of both tournament squads.

India vs Pakistan Asian Games Finals: Who Wins?
On paper, India enter as clear favorites - a dominant recent head-to-head record, a semi-final performance that bowled out a quality Sri Lankan side for 45, and a full-strength squad against a Pakistan side missing most of its senior names.
Pakistan's spin-heavy approach got the job done against Bangladesh, but they'll need something considerably sharper to trouble an Indian batting and bowling unit that's looked close to untouchable through the knockout rounds.
The bigger uncertainty by far isn't the matchup itself, it's whether Saturday's forecast holds up long enough to let this final actually be played to a finish.
