As Pakistan are eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2026, the competition shapes up for the final piece of the top four jigsaw.
England, New Zealand and South
Africa have already progressed to the semifinals of the competition, and the final place will be determined on Sunday (March 1) in Kolkata.
India, the mighty favourites, are set to lock horns against West Indies at the Eden Gardens and the winning team of that match will join the other three.
India in T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eights
India have played two matches in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 so far. In their opening clash against South Africa in Ahmedabad, India suffered a heavy defeat as the Proteas dominated with a strong batting effort and disciplined bowling, restricting India well short of the target to hand them a significant loss.
Bouncing back strongly in a must-win game against Zimbabwe at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, India delivered a explosive batting performance to post a massive total-the second-highest in tournament history, fueled by aggressive half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya, plus quick contributions from Tilak Varma.
Pakistan Elimination Finalizes Semifinal Venues
With Pakistan's elimination, the 2nd semifinal of the T20 World Cup would also be hosted at the Eden Gardens on March 4, while if India advance, they will play their match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 5.
Who will India face in the Semifinal if they Qualify?
If India win against West Indies, they will qualify for the semifinals. As the two group winners will face the respective runners-up of the other Super Eight group, India's opponents are yet to be confirmed. England and New Zealand have advanced from Group 2, while the former qualified as the Group Winners.
If India win against West Indies and South Africa lose to Zimbabwe, India can still finish as Group 1 winners if their NRR eclipses South Africa. In that case, they would face New Zealand in the semifinal.
But realistically, an India win may still be enough to finish 2nd in the group and in that case, they are set to play England in the semifinal, which would be a repeat of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
