Real Madrid forward Endrick is joining Lyon on loan for the rest of the 2025-26 season. Madrid want the 19-year-old to gain steady first-team minutes after limited involvement so far. Lyon add a high-profile
attacking option as the club push for a higher Ligue 1 finish.
Endrick will be officially registered as a Lyon player on 1 January. French regulations state new signings must wait four days before playing. Therefore, Endrick will miss Lyon’s Ligue 1 trip to Monaco on 3 January. Lyon sit fifth in the table, four points behind fourth-placed Lille.
Expectations have followed Endrick since Madrid agreed a deal with Palmeiras in 2022. That transfer only went through in July 2024, once Endrick turned 18. The forward then arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu under intense attention, with supporters and analysts following every appearance closely.
During the 2024-25 campaign under Carlo Ancelotti, Endrick played 37 matches in all competitions. However, only eight of those appearances were starts. Across the full season, Endrick totalled 847 minutes on the pitch. The Brazilian still scored seven goals, yet struggled to secure a regular starting role.
This season, now working under Xabi Alonso, Endrick has featured even less. Endrick has played only three matches, with one start, for a combined 99 minutes. A muscle injury ruled Endrick out for the first month. Endrick then received a red card from the bench in a 2-0 defeat against Celta Vigo.
Madrid view the Endrick loan Lyon agreement as a way to support development over the coming months. Consistent Ligue 1 action should offer more experience than sporadic minutes in Madrid. Lyon hope Endrick adds depth and cutting edge in attack, while Madrid monitor progress across the loan spell.
