Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully defended their IPL title, defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets with 12 balls to spare in the final on Sunday (May 31) at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to bowl. Gujarat Titans posted 155 for 8 in 20 overs, with Washington Sundar scoring an unbeaten 50. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill made useful contributions, but the Titans were unable to accelerate on a pitch that offered some grip for the bowlers.
RCB's bowling unit performed with discipline, restricting the opposition to a below-par total. In reply, RCB reached the target of 156, finishing at 161 for 5 in 18 overs.
Virat Kohli played a pivotal role, remaining unbeaten on 75 off 42 balls.
Despite early setbacks, Kohli and Jitesh Sharma steadied the innings. Arshad Khan was the most effective bowler for Gujarat Titans.
With this win, RCB became back-to-back IPL champions, winning the title in 2025 and 2026. The victory marks the culmination of a successful period for the franchise.
