Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 64 of IPL 2026 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday. The hosts were forced into a late change ahead of the must-win encounter, with regular captain Riyan Parag ruled out due to a hamstring strain.
As a result, Yashasvi Jaiswal will lead Rajasthan Royals for the first time, with the young opener taking charge in the franchise's final home game of the season.
Speaking at the toss, Jaiswal said the decision to field first was influenced by the batting-friendly nature of the Jaipur surface and the possibility of dew later in the evening.
"We will bowl first. It looks like a good wicket and there could be some dew later on, that's what we'll see.
It means a lot to me, I'm proud to lead the Rajasthan Royals," Jaiswal said.
The toss decision was hardly surprising given the trends at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium this season. All three IPL 2026 matches at the venue have produced first-innings totals in excess of 220, while chasing sides have enjoyed considerable assistance from dew under lights.
For Rajasthan, the equation remains straightforward. With 12 points from 12 matches and their playoff hopes hanging by a thread, another defeat could effectively end their chances of reaching the knockout stages. Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, have already been eliminated from contention but arrive in Jaipur after a dominant victory over Chennai Super Kings.

The Royals confirmed shortly before the toss that Parag would miss the fixture because of a hamstring strain.
"A hamstring strain rules Riyan Parag out of tonight's fixture, with Yashasvi Jaiswal stepping up to lead the Royals in our final home game of the season," the franchise announced.
