Bihar scripted history in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on December 24, 2025, posting the highest List A total ever, 574 for 6 in 50 overs, against Arunachal Pradesh in Ranchi.
The onslaught demolished the previous record of 506 for 2 by Tamil Nadu against Arunachal Pradesh in 2022.
Captain Sakibul Gani's unbeaten 128 off 40 balls anchored the chase for an impossible target, but the spotlight belonged to teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose blistering 190 off 84 balls announced him as a future star.
Batting first after winning the toss, Bihar openers Mangal Mahrour (33 off 43) and Suryavanshi laid a solid 158-run platform in 14.3 overs. Suryavanshi exploded with 16 fours and 15 sixes, striking at 226.19 in a knock that mixed ruthless power-hitting
with precise placement. His 117-run stand with Mahrour set the tone, followed by a 103-run alliance with Piyush Singh (77 off 66).
Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Masterclass
At just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the show, falling for 190 in the 27th over to Techi Neri (2/83). He targeted Arunachal's pacers mercilessly-Mibom Mosu (0/116 off 9) and Nabam Tempol (0/72 off 5) bled runs at over 12 an over. Suryavanshi's 31 boundaries included towering sixes that cleared Patna's ropes repeatedly, turning the match into a batting masterclass. This innings cements his reputation after IPL auctions buzz and Under-19 exploits, positioning him as Bihar's next big export.
Post-Suryavanshi, Ayush Loharuka (116 off 56, 11x4, 8x6) and Gani accelerated brutally. Their 94-run stand in 30 balls propelled Bihar past 400, with Gani's 320 strike rate (10x4, 12x6) featuring helicopter shots and ramps. Tadakamalla Mohith (2/99) snared late wickets, but Bihar's middle order feasted on a flat track.
