Ex-India player advices Virat Kohli to reverse Test retirement

Former India batter Robin Uthappa is pushing for Virat Kohli to reverse his Test retirement decision, citing the star's sharp focus spotted in recent nets sessions ahead of India's limited-overs clashes.

The ex-RCB teammate posted a snapshot of Kohli batting, highlighting his undimmed drive. This call revives buzz around Kohli's abrupt 2025 exit from red-ball cricket, right before the England tour.

Uthappa captioned his social media post: "The eyes tell u a story.Surely it's time to rescind his test retirement. Would love to see him back in Test cricket. " He shared the image from India's practice ahead of the New Zealand ODI series, insisting the intensity screams readiness for a comeback

In a prior YouTube video, Uthappa questioned both Kohli's

and Rohit Sharma's Test farewells, stating: "I don't know if it was a forced surrender, but it definitely didn't seem like a natural exit. What the truth is, they themselves will have to share in their own time. But I don't think it was natural. " Kohli amassed 9,230 Test runs at 46.85, with 30 tons, before stepping away in May 2025 post a tough Border-Gavaskar series.
