Virat Kohli once again showed why he is admired not just for his batting brilliance but also for his character off the field. On Saturday, January 10, the India great was spotted sharing a heartfelt pep
talk with a local net bowler in Vadodara during India's training session ahead of the first ODI against New Zealand.
A short clip of the exchange quickly went viral, highlighting Kohli's ability to inspire cricketers at every level.
The session took place at Kotambi Stadium, where Kohli spent nearly 90 minutes batting against pacers, spinners and throw-down specialists. Despite the demanding drills, he made time to interact with a young net bowler who had been helping India prepare for the series. Kohli not only signed a ball for him but also shared a piece of cricketing wisdom that resonated deeply with fans.

"Agar maar padh bhi jaati hai to koi baat nahi. par conviction se," he told the bowler. "Deliver the ball you want to bowl, not the one the batter wants from you. "
The message, simple yet powerful, showcased Kohli's emphasis on intent and confidence-qualities that have defined his own career.
Kohli's training session followed two impactful outings for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he smashed 77 and 131 before joining the national squad. Opting out of Delhi's third match against Railways, he shifted focus fully towards the ODI series. While he tackled the Indian bowlers with aggression, the variable bounce from throw-down specialists offered a challenging examination of his technique ahead of the New Zealand contest.
The upcoming ODI series marks Kohli's return as a single-format player for India. He enters the three games-scheduled for January 11 in Vadodara, January 14 in Rajkot, and January 18 in Indore-in terrific touch. Just last month, he hammered two centuries and an unbeaten 65 in the home series against South Africa.
Kohli's stellar history against New Zealand adds more weight to his return. With 1657 runs in 33 ODIs at an impressive average of 55.23, he has consistently dominated the Kiwis. As India prepares for another high-intensity series, Kohli's form, focus and leadership will be crucial.
