Kolkata Knight Riders beat Lucknow Super Giants in a Super Over in their TATA IPL 2026 match in Lucknow. Gujarat Titans earned an eight-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings. On JioHotstar and Star Sports shows, Irfan Pathan praised Sunil Narine and Rinku Singh, while Deep Dasgupta questioned LSG's Super Over calls.
Pathan said the LSG versus KKR match stayed low-scoring due to tough batting conditions. He felt the pitch had bounce and movement. According to him, big totals have been hard in Lucknow this season. He called Rinku Singh's 26-run over against Digvesh Rathi the turning point.
Rinku Singh counterattacks and late-over control
Pathan said that a 26-run burst changed the contest. He added that KKR lost some key moments but stayed alive due to that phase. He praised Rinku's awareness
in the final over, his reading of plans, and his choice to keep strike and finish under pressure.
"The quality of bowling was outstanding, and the pitch definitely had something in it, a bit of bounce and movement, which made batting challenging. We've seen that in Lucknow this season, posting big scores hasn't been easy. But the turning point was Rinku Singh's counterattack against Digvesh Rathi. That one over where he scored 26 runs completely shifted the momentum. Even though KKR lost a few key moments, that phase changed the game, and from there, they found a way to stay in the contest and eventually come out on top," the former Indian captain said at the
On Narine, Pathan highlighted the ball that removed Nicholas Pooran in the Super Over. He noted Narine's calm execution in pressure moments. Pathan said teams rarely trust a spinner then, but Narine is different. He felt Narine's focus on details has helped him bounce back across the years.
Deep Dasgupta questions LSG's Super Over choices
On Star Sports, Deep Dasgupta said LSG had back-to-back close losses to RR and KKR. He felt a 155 chase should have been simpler with their line-up. He said such failures hurt dressing room morale and highlighted the choice to send Pooran ahead of Mitchell Marsh.
Dasgupta called Marsh LSG's top run-getter this season. He said Marsh, Himmat Singh, and Aiden Markram should have handled the Super Over. Instead, LSG used an under-confident Pooran. He warned that repeated close losses in T20 can damage a season and urged quick fixes in order and tactics.
Why RCB are tipped to edge DC?
Looking at today's Delhi Capitals versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru match, Dasgupta gave RCB a slight edge. He said DC lacks confidence after failing to defend 264 against Punjab. He felt such a loss hurts morale, but also shows their batting remains in good shape.
Dasgupta criticised Delhi's bowling and fielding in that Punjab match. He said both units must improve to beat Bengaluru. He praised RCB's current bowling form. He noted Phil Salt's absence but backed Jacob Bethell, saying his left-hand pairing with Virat Kohli could help against DC.
